Barry Callebaut presented the report revealing the trends that will shape the future of the chocolate industry. Conducted in 29 countries with the participation of 11,700 consumers, the study highlights how the quest for sensory experiences, sustainability and wellness are driving growth in this sector, valued at over $130 billion in global retail sales in 2024 and with a CAGR of 5.2% to 2029.

According to "Top Chocolate Trends 2025", chocolate will be much more than a sweet: it will be a sensory, ethical and healthy experience. Brands that embrace these trends and deliver meaningful and innovative experiences will succeed in a constantly evolving market.

The concept of indulgence has evolved. It is no longer just about satisfying cravings, but about creating full sensory experiences that generate deep emotional connections. This is achieved by stimulating all the senses, transforming everyday indulgences into memorable moments.

At the point of sale, consumers are looking for options that not only nourish, but offer immersive, multi-sensory experiences that deliver pleasure and joy. From the aroma of freshly ground cocoa to the snap of a chocolate bar, every detail counts in making chocolate consumption an unforgettable experience.

Conscious indulgence" is more than a trend; it represents a commitment to personal well-being and sustainability. Consumers are looking for brands that reflect their values, choosing products that are good for the planet, society and themselves. This approach ensures that indulgence is not only pleasurable, but also responsible and ethical.

The demand for plant-based products continues to grow, especially among young consumers. From intense dark chocolate to innovative varieties made with oat milk, cashew nuts or coconut, vegan or dairy-free options have established themselves as a must-have category.
